8 Best Online Games To Play With Your Remote Team
When we used to work in an office, a Friday afternoon wind-down was fantastic after a stressful week. When we became a remote first company, online games became an excellent alternative (just bring your own chips and drink).
Here are 8 great online games you can play with your remote team (we definitely recommend doing this during a Zoom call so you can trash talk with your team!):
1. Skribbl.io
Skribbl.io is a multiplayer drawing and guessing game. Players take turns drawing words from a list. The other players must then try to guess what the word is.
The game is very quick to start, competitive, and with everyone using either a mouse or trackpad it’s a level playing field no matter what your drawing ability is.
3. Codenames
If you’re looking for a more strategic game to play with your team, Codenames is a great option. It’s a word-based guessing game that requires teamwork and communication in order to win.
The only downside with Codenames is you really need a minimum of 6 players (and ideally more) for games to flow well.

4. Shell Shockers
Shell Shockers is a first-person shooter game that’s played completely in your browser. It’s a relatively new game but it’s already become extremely popular, partially due to how easy it is to pick up and play.
There are different game modes, but it’s a great option for a quick game of multiplayer shoot ’em up, that doesn’t require anything to install, and keeps everything pretty lighthearted (you’re not killing anyone, just smashing eggs!).
One downside is anyone forced to play with a trackpad is at a major disadvantage, you really need a mouse. Additionally, make sure you choose a game server that’s at a similar distance from everyone’s location.
5. Pysch!
This one’s great if you have a group of 4-12 people, as it can be played with anywhere from two to six teams. You’ll need the Psych! app, which is free on iOS and Android.
The game works by each team being given a fake answer to a real trivia question, and then everyone guessing what the real answer is. If someone guesses your fake answer you’ve psyched them!
This was one of the first games we played as a team. Helpful advice — whoever creates the games should get a paid account, then it’ll avoid everyone having to watch those annoying ads.
6. Drawful 2
This is one of the more popular party games out there, and for good reason. It’s a great way to get everyone laughing, even if you’re not the best artist in the world.
Someone will need to buy and install the Drawful 2 and then others participate with their phone. It’s a very polished experience but for whatever reason we’ve always found it to be a little bit more effort to set up, and for that reason we usually opt for either Skribbl.io or Gartic Phone if we want to play a drawing game.
7. Jackbox Games
From the creators of Drawful 2, Jackbox Games makes a bunch of great party games that are perfect for playing online with friends, including the ones we’ve already mentioned. They have a whole host of other games worth checking out, like Quiplash, Fibbage, and Trivia Murder Party.
Similar to Drawful 2, our experience is the extra polish comes at the cost of overhead. When we want to play a game the extra effort for someone to open and run these games means we usually opt for something else.
8. Among Us
This game took the world by storm a couple of years ago. Players are divided into two teams: Crewmates and Imposters. The Crewmates’ goal is to complete all of the tasks assigned to them and figure out who the Imposters are before it’s too late. The Imposters’ goal is to sabotage the ship and kill as many Crewmates as possible.
Downside to this one is it’s a paid game, and everyone needs to have the game installed to play.
9. Gartic Phone
This is a great game for teams that want to have a laugh before starting the weekend. Each player draws a picture based on the word or phrase given, while the others have to interpret it. Hilarity ensues when players then have to do another drawing based on what others have interpreted.
Unlike the other games on this list Gartic Phone isn’t competitive, but it’s the one game we can count on to get guaranteed laughs!
